Southpaw Veterinary Clinic & Emergency Care is an independently owned, community-focused veterinary practice serving Omaha and the surrounding areas. Co-owned by Dr. Trent Shrader and Dr. Lackovic, our clinic is built on the belief that exceptional veterinary care starts with compassion, communication, and trust.

We provide a unique blend of primary care (30%) and urgent/emergency care (70%) in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality medicine while ensuring clients feel informed, supported, and confident in their pet’s care.

Southpaw is proud to care for a diverse range of patients, including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and other non-traditional species. With a strong emphasis on teamwork, growth, and work-life balance, we strive to create an environment where both our patients and our team members can thrive.

Company History

Southpaw Veterinary Clinic was founded with a mission to provide compassionate, family-oriented veterinary care to animals of all kinds. What began as a vision to create a more personalized and inclusive clinic has grown into a trusted resource for both primary and urgent care in the Omaha community.

Over time, Southpaw has expanded its services to meet the growing needs of pet owners, including the addition of urgent and emergency care and the transition to a 24/7 operation. The clinic has also developed a strong reputation for treating both traditional and exotic species, offering specialized care that sets it apart in the region.

Today, Southpaw continues to evolve, with ongoing growth in staff, services, and facilities—including plans for a new hospital. Despite this growth, the clinic remains committed to its founding values: compassionate care, strong client relationships, and a supportive, team-driven culture.
