Description
Job DescriptionAnimal Emergency Hospital (AEH) is seeking veterinarians passionate about working in emergency medicine for our 6-9 month training and mentorship program. We are looking for individuals who are team oriented, driven, reflective, and reliable to train with us and transition into an ER position at Animal Emergency Hospital.
About AEH:
We are a 24-hour Emergency/Critical Care Practice providing advanced emergency care for small animals. We have a skilled support staff and a pleasant working environment. Our new hospital offers 15,000 sq ft with 8 exam rooms and 2 surgical suites; all boasting a spacious, organized design focused on client, patient, and staff comfort as well as efficiency.
The Ethos ER Immerse Training Program
The ER Immerse Program will prepare veterinarians for a sustainable and satisfying career in emergency medicine. Built from the ground up to be different than traditional rotating internship programs, the ERi program has been developed around a curriculum of core competencies essential for an emergency veterinarian. In addition to providing training around clinical knowledge and skills, the program also includes a focus on client and team member communication, professional skills, and life/work integration.
The ER Immerse program utilizes a hybrid training approach incorporating simulation-based didactic components into authentic training experiences with live patients. The curriculum is designed using an evidence-based strategy identifying competencies and skills deemed essential for a successful career as an emergency clinician.
Our mentorship includes extensive hands-on surgical and procedural training designed to build confidence in emergency surgery and advanced diagnostics. Mentees participate in surgery wet labs with practical experience using the ForceTriad electrosurgical platform, LigaSure vessel sealing, monopolar electrosurgery, and GIA/TA stapling devices.
The program also includes comprehensive training in both rigid and flexible endoscopy, with hands-on experience using GI endoscopes, rhinoscopy equipment, and other minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures commonly utilized in emergency practice.
In addition, mentees complete an in-depth ultrasound training course on our new Canon Aplio Flex ultrasound system, taught by a dedicated veterinary ultrasonographer. This provides extensive hands-on instruction in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), abdominal ultrasound, image acquisition, and interpretation to help build confidence in emergency diagnostics.
Applications:
Applications are accepted year-round; however, mentorship positions are limited. To maximize your chances of securing a placement, we recommend submitting your application by November 1st. Applications received after this date will be considered as opportunities remain available.
Work authorization in the United States is a requirement for the position. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship by the company, but candidates eligible for TN status may be considered.
