Description

Are you a veterinary criticalist who is looking for what’s next and wants to be an integral part of a supportive, energetic, passionate, and congenial professional family?  A place where you can lead an ER team of compassionate and dedicated professionals?  In the words of our Founder, Dr. Marta Agrodnia; a place where you can help animals?  If so, we would love to hear from you!

Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) located in Portland, Maine is looking for a talented and accomplished veterinarian to partner with our management team and lead our emergency department. Our ideal candidate will be a veterinary criticalist looking to maintain both a clinical and managerial workload and enjoys managing critical patients. We would also consider an experienced emergency veterinarian with a passion for critical care.  Our ER department includes 10 Emergency Veterinarians, two Criticalists, and two VTS (ECC).  We have a highly collaborative team, and you will enjoy the support of our internists (4) surgeons (5), neurologists (2) oncologist, ophthalmologist, cardiologist, and anesthesiologist.  With a full array of critical care and anesthesia monitoring modalities, we have everything you need to practice the highest level of care.  Hospital equipment includes telemetry, high-flow oxygen, color-flow ultrasound (3), video endoscopy, otoscopy, cystoscopy, laparoscopy, digital radiography, a full on-site laboratory, cold laser (2), PulseVet shockwave, PRP & stem cell therapy, a CT scanner, and MRI.

Our hospital has grown exponentially over the past twenty years, and we will be moving into a brand new, state-of-the-art 42,000 sq ft hospital in early 2025. We would love to show you the plans! Our goal has always been to practice the highest level of care while being laser-focused on our clients, patients, and community.  Our new, state-of-the-art facility will support us as we continue to grow and serve the Portland community.

As part of our continued growth, we are thrilled to announce that we recently partnered with Pieper Veterinary in CT, Mass-RI Veterinary ER in Swansea, MA, and Metropolitan Veterinary Associates in Norristown, PA.  This partnership of Veterinarian led hospitals is committed to providing the highest level of care in the Northeast.

At PVESC you will enjoy a supportive culture that is committed to employee wellness.  In addition to a generous salary, our benefits package is designed to support you personally and professionally.
